Pluta este ancorată la mal pentru a permite vizitatorilor de la oraș să admire acest meșteșug tradițional. Plutașii obțineau astfel un mic câștig iar orășenii își petreceau plăcut o ieșire la iarbă verde. Fotograful Alexandru Antoniu publica în 1901 un "Album general al României" în care astfel de imagini puteau fi întâlnite.
