The three generations that illustrated the first three quarters of a Century in the history of the Romanian monarchy, Charles I, Ferdinand, Charles II, are captured side by side in an official photograph taken by Franz Mandy, the Royal Court photographer. The martial posture of the three is softened by the fatherly gesture of Charles I who puts his hand on his nephew's shoulder in a protective manner.
