Ignaz Stephan Raicevich (1739-1792), Italian physician, scholar and diplomat, an Austrian subject, published in German in Vienna this remarkable work containing a wealth of historical, economic, political and social information about the Romanians of the Principality in the 18th Century. He was both a private teacher to the sultan prince of the Phanariot ruler Alexander Ipsilanti and consul of the Habsburg Empire in Bucharest between 1782 and 1786. The copy includes the ex-libris of the historian Alexandru Papiu-Ilarian and that of the Romanian Mining Society of Bucharest and is bound in a leather bibliophilic binding.
