The aura of Theodor Pallady's paintings settled and materialized during his lifetime, as one of the most accomplished works of art of the modern painting in interwar Romania. Deeply intimate, his creation channelled into several visual directions, the most significant by far being the interior painting, either static nature or genre compositions, in his art studio. Recognizable, full of unusual charm, framed by the famous backdrop of his art studio in Place Dauphine, Pallady's static nature paintings describe a mystical, attractive and unique universe, always simplified by the ascetic manner of his painting. Based on the obvious topic of static nature paintings, and especially due to the unusual appearance of the mask - an object that always transcends the concrete materiality of the usual props - the painting can be integrated into the line of works of art created between 1924 and 1934, with a relevant recurrence of the "mask" in the title of canvases. "Static nature with flowers and brown mask", "Static nature with flowers and inkwell", "Flower pot and inkwell" or "Sunflower and mask" are compositionally related static nature paintings, which depict either the items present in our work or remind of the standard style of the 3-4 decades of the 19th century. The objects of the composition do not appear by chance in the Palladian "interior" script nor only for the aesthetics of their volumes, but are joined in a single score, whose message decodes the artist's private universe piece by piece.
