PROVENANCE

colecția istorică Ecaterina Caragiale-Logadi (1894-1987) colecția istorică Ernest Morgenstern

The return of the artist to the picture rails once the Second World War was over showed a rich repertoire of portraits, illustrative compositions, interior scenes, static natures and landscapes, the latter gaining a more and more prominent place. Captured on the outskirts of the city, depicting the slums and factories, and in Cozieni, Breaza, Comarnic, Căciulați or Tulcea, the landscapes revealed new artistic testimonies. Inclined towards the construction of the pictorial form, the artist would treat the landscape in multi-layered plans, suggesting the depth through shades and chromatics variations. In shades of blue or green, sometimes more sober, the chromatics would clearly organize the surface, along with a vigorous design governing the entire composition. (GM)
