oil on cardboard, 49.5 x 35 cm, 49,5 × 35 cm, signed and dated bottom right, with brown, "Nicolae Vermont, 1915"

Educated in Munich (1887-1895) and Paris, Vermont's artistic activity was to be seen during an era of fierce struggle between realism and secessionism. Throughout the Munich period he would send his works of art to the country, displayed and exhibited during the artistic events of the "Artistic Circle" and the "Exhibition of Living Artists". He would stand out with a varied repertoire, with a wide range of genres such as portrait, landscape, composition or genre painting. In terms of genre painting, distinguished since the first decade of his creation, the artist will demonstrate a wide variety of topics. From scenes inspired by peasant life, to scenes from the life of workers, immigrants, nomadic gypsies or family life scenes, the topics reveal a strong intimate nature, highlighted by the sensitivity and finesse of interpretation, and through the harmonious chromatic.
