According to the tradition initiated by some of the first Romanian easel painters, Petrașcu will reach Balchik. We will thus notice the tumult of the sea and the waves crashing on the shore, that dominate the entire work through their grandeur. Whether it's the sea viewed from Techirghiol, or the sea seen from Balchik, the motif becomes recurring and reiterates the artist's desire to turn his wanderings into pictorial subjects. The sea will become one of his favorite themes. He will often capture it from the shore, in all its complexity, sometimes adding a frugally sketched silhouette. The effervescent brushwork accentuates the shades of ochre, brown, and white that make up the shoreline's contour. The paste layered in consistent strata amplifies the viewer's perception of the seascape, and the sea becomes a constant in his creation. But not only the sea, the journey itself contributes to the development of his imagination. The atmosphere of deep tranquility and the shades of blue that support this state reveal the nature that has become the main character.
