The English historian and diplomat Paul Rycaut (1628-1700) published this work on the Ottoman Empire, along with the Venetian diplomat Giovanni Sagredo (1617-1682), based on both historical documents and their own diplomatic experience. The work was published under the patronage of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I of Habsburg. The covers are those of the era. The leather spine has been completely redone. 569 pages are numbered and 34 sheets are unnumbered. The title page in the lower right corner has been filled out.
