Johann Stumpf (1500-1578) was a Swiss theologian, historian, and cartographer of German origin. After converting to Protestantism, he settled in Zurich and began working on the compilation of a History of Switzerland, a monumental work that established him as a man of letters. Also, he produced an Atlas first published in 1562 that included this map of Europe, a piece that was eliminated from the second edition released in 1566.

For clarifications regarding the bidding procedure, hammer price costs, guarantee, payment, and collection terms for the winning lot, we recommend carefully reading/re-reading the Bidding Regulations.
