Realizat la roată din argilă de bună calitate și ars în cuptor, vasul avea rolul de a depozita sau transporta ghimbirul. Nu era acoperit decât cu câlți umeziți peste care se punea o pânză pentru a menține o umiditate pe cât posibil constantă.
