Prezentă la Barcelona, în 2004, la o Fiesta celebră, închinată fecioarei care a salvat oraşul de la incendiu, Ana-Ruxandra Ilfoveanu a fost influențată de cortegiul personajelor purtătoare de măşti pictate. În același timp manifestă preferinţe faţă de o anume literatură, pe care o transpune în imagini, personajele sale fiind descinse din tradiția miniaturei flamande, în care gestul era extrem de important. Cromatica violentă, de sorginte expresionistă, emfazează gestul.
