Also known as the painter of the celestial blue, Sabin Bălașa created in his work a bond between poetry and the fabulous. His art is traversed by the myths of life and death, and transcends the mundane existential field, delving into a hyperreality that belongs to the heavenly. His paintings are visual transpositions of repressed aspirations and desires, which materialize due to the artist's imagination. In Sabin Bălașa's work, nothing belongs to chance, he drafts the creative report based on strong emotions, the forces of the past, present and future, depicting the unceasing quest for the fantastic. A certain romantic weight can be observed because man is dominated by the cosmos and the meditative relationship he has with the universe, but also through the abundance of dreamlike signs. The painter said: "At present, there is no social romanticism without cosmic romanticism, without understanding that the sky is populated by people.", which shows that the artist recognized that reality is essentially a metaphor for the sky. Sabin Bălașa has encompassed, in his work, the chill of eternity, managing to portray man as a whole that cannot be separated from Divinity. The present work, entitled "Cosmogony", is part of a broader series from the 90s, in which the artist returns to an established theme, that of the being's journey towards the boundless cosmos. Other works encompassing the same theme are "The Journey", "Mythology (Lunar Landscape)", "Towards the unknown". The present work, "Cosmogony", represents a pictorial consequence, as the artist refused to imagine man trapped in a worldly shell. Thus, he depicts the path of man subjected to a cosmic determination, which compels him to liberate his claustrophobic spirit. The bodies are free, fluid, contesting moral puritanism. Animated by a blue background, like the sky, and guided by the full moon, the muses, along with hyperbolized animals, head towards a dreamlike, unknown realm.
