welded stainless steel, 100 x 21.5 x 12 cm, 100 × 21,5 × 12 cm, signed at the base, on the side, illegible, "Neagu"

One of the central stages of Paul Neagu's work is the "catalytic" sculpture, a way of specializing and channelling the imagination in a pure and precise sense, which leads its reception with acuity. The concept was exhibited by the artist in 1995, during the international catalytic sculpture seminar, organized at the Romanian Cultural Foundation, attended by international sculptors, invited to experience the search for the catalytic element in their own works, using slides. The catalytic sculpture gives birth to "hyphen", a construction conceived at the end of the period of generative art, which makes the transition from analysis to spatial synthesis. Originally made of wood, on a small scale, then in welded steel, the shape of the hyphen will be built and rebuilt repeatedly over time.
