Research information
Early 1920s, Paris. Two good friends live in Place Dauphine no. 12. One of them, by the name of Gheorghe RÄut, is the Manager of the Parisian branch of the Marmorosch Blank Bank. The other one, Theodor Pallady, is already a renowned painter, both nationally and in the bohemian world of the French capital. History moves ahead in fast forward motion. In 1940, Pallady travels to Bucharest to open an exhibition, but he would not be able to leave the country again. In 1968, RÄut offers the Romanian state a part of his art collection, consisting of paintings, furniture and European decorative art, ceramics and oriental art. To all of the above, a series of paintings, as well as numerous drawings, water colour works and engravings by Th. Pallady were added. Those had previously remained under RÄut's custody, in the Paris studio. The auction of the Ninette Schapira & Gheorghe RÄut Collection reunites a part of the collection which RÄut stored for himself in Paris, as well as a part of his own collection, subsequent to the donation.
PROVENANCE
Ninette Schapira and Gheorghe RÄut. Collection
