A fost pictor, grafician și arhitect și a influențat în cei mai bine de 60 de ani de carieră culturile a două nații. A colaborat cu gruparea Dadaistă, a coordonat principalele publicații românești interbelice ce s-au ocupat de avangardă și, alături de fratele său, a proiectat zeci de clădiri în București. După 1941 a emigrat, devenind promotor al artelor și creator de școală, punând pe picioare atât colonia artistică de la Ein Hod, cât și viitorul muzeu Dada.
