The memory of Viorel Mărginean sends, in collective memory, to a continuous overflow of color, resembling an unfading source of pigments. His artistic world seems to be built around a myth coagulated on the orality of Transylvanian stories. The village, in the artist's work, is surrounded by eternal forests, flocks of birds, and endless plains, conveying the idea of the bucolic ideal. Thus, his canvases betray the sensation of a fateful time, in which every aspect unfolds as it was meant. The present work, entitled "Spring", was made during the 90s. This stage of creation was prolific for the artist. Viorel Mărginean managed to shape a specific style, easily recognizable, through his large painting cycles such as the series of works inspired by the village of Cenade or the cycle dedicated to birds. The artist's vision fascinates through the "à vol d’oiseau" perspective, which he recurrently uses in his works. Usually, artists use this perspective to completely catch the frame, suggesting to the viewer the rhythm and the angle from which the works can be analyzed. The temporal dimension is also important in Viorel Mărginean's works, as the artist's works are often painted on stretched canvases, which require time for deciphering almost miniature details. The current work, "Spring", houses a flock of birds, who settle in a castle of greenery. We notice that in this opera, Viorel Mărginean has outlined the entire generational path, from birth to flight. The birds, of different kinds, are caught in flight or in a state of waiting. Just like the leaves in the work, which seem to announce the arrival of all 4 seasons simultaneously, so Marginean's birds, are about to return, respectively, to go home. We can consider the painting the cycle through which any living being goes after coming to earth.
