Following the upward movement made by birds in their flight, Viorel Mărginean decomposes in his works the mysteries of the air, creating an unprecedented pictorial story about the high sky and the beings that define this framework, similar to the paintings caught on easels in galleries. The painter's works are often drawn from a dreamlike framework, composed on layers that can be admired just like adjacent stories. During the '80-'90s, Viorel Mărginean alternates the furrows snowy from the village of Cenade, with introspections about the sky. In this artistic period, the painter defines an extensive corpus of works that carry the ease of bird flight in works such as "Bird of Paradise", "In Flight" or "Migration". Viorel Mărginean's birds are not domesticated, the painter does not claim a protectorate over them, but lets them find their own space. By approaching the subject with tenderness, the artist's birds seem to be in search of Eden, flying over entire lands of landscape. In the current work, entitled "Sunset in the Delta", the birds are arranged both in the high sky and on the mirror of a lake. Thus, the work seems to be separated from a mirror, and, at the same time, completely subordinate to the birds that appear among the bare trees. In flocks or alone, the birds fly beyond the sunset, among the bloody reed that is reflected in the translucent eye of water, signaled by the artist by juxtaposing white and gray.
