Stiletul este confecţionat dintr-o lamă de oţel cromat, cu o teacă din alamă decorată cu stema de stat a RSR. Stiletul este însoţit de cureaua de mătase şi eghileţii de ofiţer al RSR. Stiletul era folosit numai în timpul paradelor militare, el înlocuind sabia de la uniforma ofițerilor armatei române deoarece era considerată o "reminiscență burgheză".
