Doru Borobeică s-a născut în București pe 21 ianuarie 1963 și se alătură trupei Iris în noiembrie 1984. Un moment important relatat de cântăreț pe site-ul trupei Iris, este legat de anul 1993, când a câștigat locul al doilea la Cannes, în cadrul concursului Decouvertes de l'Est. „Atunci am apărut la MTV pentru 65 de secunde, fiind prezentați ca o adevarată revelație a rock-ului de dincolo de Cortina de Fier.”
