Obverse: head of Hercules covered with lion's hair, facing right Reverse: seated Zeus Aëtophoros facing left, HP monogram in the left side, surrounded by the inscriptions ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ and ΛYΣΙΜΑΧΟY, Θ under the throne, wheat ears in the husk - From Pliniu the Eldest, we learn that the city of Callatis was founded on the site of a Thracian settlement called Cerbatis or Acervetis. The middle of the 4th Century B.C. Kllatis was in full development, turning, like Istria, into an important production centre - Heraclea Pontica was also a city founded by settlers from Megara.
