The silver Drachma coins minted at Istria had a relatively wide area of circulation, including mainly Dobrogea, such coins being also found in Muntenia and Moldova In addition to Drachmas, other silver divisional coins with the same iconographic characteristics were minted in Istria, such as the Hemidrachm, equal to half a Drachma, or the quarter Drachma, obol, equal to 1/6 of a Drachma. With the passing of time, the weight of the Istrian Drachma has decreased, from 7-8 grams in the 5th Century B.C. to 5-6 grams in the 4th Century B.C.
