The two objects are specific to the end of the 19th-century Damascus. The neck of the pot displays the Hebrew inscription "Ben Porat Yosef" ("Joseph is a fruitful branch, Genesis 49, verse 22"), while the central cartridges, in Arabic "Rabbi al-aiat" (variant of the word "God").
