46. Faith [2021]

The artwork "Faith" is part of the series of paintings entitled "A Sense of Belonging", made in the last two years and coincides with this period of unprecedented turmoil of humanity before the unknown. The mixture of contradictory feelings, unpredictable situations, expectation and the dangerous play of uncertainties are cryptically expressed through textured surfaces, intense chromatic juxtapositions of the background on which the determined, confident face of a young woman is outlined. The portrait serves as a pretext for counterbalancing the ideological and morphological level of the troubled context. The determined, penetrating gaze is the centre of interest of the image, inviting the viewer to go through all the superimposed and intertwined planes that partially obscure the face. An aura of nostalgia envelops the composition, pleading for the desire to recover, to reconnect at the human and superhuman level.
