In his childhood, Mircea Suciu's parents instilled in him a love for Modigliani, whose works the artist used to study closely and reproduce afterwards. He thus comes into contact with the famous Paris School and discovers Toulouse-Lautrec, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Seurat or Gauguin. He remains loyal to academism and realism, but also adopts modern techniques, thus developing an eclectic style. His childhood, lived under the auspices of a totalitarian regime, makes its mark on the artist and his future themes, so subjects such as the passage of time, anxiety, violence or oppression frequently appear in his works. The classicist vocation that he uses regardless of the medium of expression (whether it is painting, drawing, photography or film) is probably also due to the expansive study on restoration that Mircea Suciu conducts for a year, in Sicily and Palermo. One of his favorite techniques consists of combining monotype with painting - thus obtaining multiple layers of matter and subject equally. He will divide his works into suggestive series: "Rope Series", "Sleep of Reason", "Self Portrait Series", where he philosophizes on the subject and revisits it in various forms. The oppressive atmosphere in his works is indirectly connected to history and traumas, his painting thus becoming a form of therapy. The artist now invents his own set of colors which he adapts thematically. His entire oeuvre is centered around the psychological component and the fragility of humanity. Whether working in acrylics, charcoal, oil or recycled materials, Mircea Suciu encodes the philosophy of the human condition in his creative process. Over time, he has exhibited in cities such as Bochum, Bremen, The Hague, Debrecen, Budapest or New York. He has also appeared on the cover of an issue of the prestigious international magazine "ARTnews" and founded a creative space called "Laika". This was a non-profit artist run space, supported by their own funds, intended to promote emerging artists and projects by established artists.
