GROZDEA, Mircea, „Constantin Piliuță”, Ed. Meridiane, București, 1980.

oil on canvas, 61 x 62 cm, 61 × 62 cm, signed and dated bottom right, with black, "C. Piliuță, (19)82"

A student of the "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Imitative Arts from Bucharest (1949-1955), together with Ion Nicodim, Traian Brădean, Aurel Nedel, Marius Cilevici and Sabin Bălașa, under the guidance of teacher Alexandru Ciucurencu, the artist Piliuță makes his debut in the year 1956, in the Bucharest Interregional Exhibition. Starting from this event, the artist is ever-present in the exhibitions held in the Capital, as well as in personal exhibitions, organized on a regular basis in the country and abroad. In the area of easel painting, one of his many pursuits, the artist stands out with a rich repertoire - from still lifes to landscapes, nudes, flowers, compositions with characters or animals - reflecting, one at a time, stylized realities, outlined in an interpreted representational realm. He has a penchant for the casual, for the commonplace look of things, for natural gestures and attitudes, searching for the spontaneous lyrical vibration, which he essentializes using a parsimony of means, aiming to suggest.
