For the artist Ciucurencu, the post-war period is equivalent to a reattainment of his artistic freedom, evincing, upon returning to the picture rail, a genuine turmoil regarding the mastery of the canvas, as well as the weight of the approached themes. Along with a prolific exhibition activity, the artist also manifests in this period a relentless interest in supporting Romanian art, starting from a tenacious activity in the trade of artists from the Union of Beaux Arts, which he joined in 1945. He also associated with the new manifestations of modern art, exhibiting within the "Flacăra" Group - an attempt to align the forces in a new spirit, as well as within the Official Art Show. His return to the picture rails, eulogized by critics and art lovers, would feature a rich repertoire of senior portraits, illustrative compositions, indoor scenes, still lifes and landscapes, the latter being increasingly prominent. Captured at Bucharest’s periphery, illustrating the slums and the factories, but also at Cozieni, Breaza, Căciulați or Tulcea, the artist’s landscapes reveal new creative testimonies, elaborated around the environment. Having a propensity for the construction of form, the artist treats the landscapes in tiered planes, suggesting depth by means of simplified colour schemes, along with tonal variations, which define the planes. Due to this constructional procedure, in which the object is subordinated to the colour, his painting follows a new path, that of the impression, where the colour scheme is the one that visually dominates the entire visual field.
