A master of expressive forms, through which he sought to embody the meaning, the essential and the myth, Ion Irimescu will be the creator of a rich body of work, tackling a multitude of artistic genres during his creation. In the case of statuary composition, the thematic range will be broad, with the sculptor often tackling subjects such as: motherhood, music, the social, the political, the legendary, the mythical or the biblical. Among the topics addressed, we note during his repertoire the equestrian theme, presented in 1945 at the Official Salon of Moldova, where the artist participated with five works - "23 August" ("August 23"), "Toamna" ("Autumn"), "Odalisce" ("Odalisques"), "Odaliscă" ("Odalisque"), "Sfântul Gheorghe" ("Saint George"). Following this participation, the artist was given the award of the Ministry of Culture and Arts. (GM)
