Constantin Brâncuși spent several weeks in August-September 1931 as a guest of the couple Mary Reynolds - Marcel Duchamp at their villa in the south of France, at Villefranche-sur-Mer, near Nice. Invited by Mary Reynolds whom he had met in Paris, Brâncuși honored the invitation. Such photographs are preserved in the Brâncuși fund at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
