Spiru Haret (1851-1912) remained in posterity primarily as a liberal minister and reformer of the Romanian education system of the era. Beyond his political activity, he was one of Romania's leading scholars. Mathematician by training, professor at the University of Bucharest, member of the Romanian Academy, Haret was one of the first scientists to develop a mathematical model used in the analysis of social phenomena, developed in the pages of this work published in French in Paris and Bucharest in 1910. The work, nowadays forgotten, enjoyed a great success in the era, especially in France. The exemplary, in a good preservation state, is bound in parchment.
