Based on religious and mythological subjects, portraits, social scenes captured in the Romanian village, city scenes and landscapes, the artist Aman will become an authentic chronicler of his time, a chronicler using his brush to mirror realistic aspects of the society he was part of. As a landscape painter, he would be interested in the romantic and documentary picturesque, as well as in issues such as the suggestion of atmosphere and light, rendered through eclairage effects, brushstroke liberties and luminous chromatics. Alongside the series of portraits illustrating the era in which he lived, an important contribution will also be made by the genre scenes, treated by the artist, especially in his last creative period. The images are full of realism and will represent authentic documents, depicting scenes of a lavish, luxurious life. Rich interiors, lush parks, party scenes will be among the subjects suggested by the fashionable Parisian currents, which the artist was in constant contact with. Receptive to current innovations, the artist will devote himself during this period to plein-air genre painting, the study of nature becoming one of his most profound exercises, which will also bring new valences to drawing. The issues that will preoccupy him will be the rendering of light and atmosphere, using eclairage effects, which will give him an unlimited freedom of expression. The new approach, accompanied by a remarkable pictorial realism, will speak in imposing languages, the palette becoming brighter and more dynamic, breathing a modern air. (G.M.)
