PROVENANCE

late 70's, the Zoe Ceaușescu collection, daughter of Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu; 1990-2011, in the custody of the National Museum of Art of Romania; after 2011, the collection of Zoe Ceausescu's heirs. The artwork is accompanied by a certificate of origin, signed by Mircea Oprean, Zoia Ceaușescu's husband.

With a premise based on the understanding of pictorial truth, learned during his years of study in Paris, artist Ciucurencu will understand that the three fundamental means of expression are: line, colour and value. Whether we speak of landscapes, static nature paintings, portraits, social theme or flowers compositions, with the severe reduction of external details, the artist pays great attention to the material form, hence reality becoming one of his starting points, a direct reference point. Captured in close proximity to his reality, floral compositions will often be among the subjects of his work. Treated "alla prima", in advanced brush plays, along with pictorial syntheses and colour enhancements, his compositions would witness an admirable modern creative evolution, where the vividness and brightness of the palette prevail.
