Compared to other artists of his time, who definitely refused the Academism of the Munich school, Constantin D. Stahi has a thorough approach to Academist paining, adopting its techniques. He is not an advocate for experiments, as his works are mostly dominated by balance. The chromaticism is unitary, equal, lacking strong accents, and backgrounds are often neutral. He approaches the artistic world thanks to the apprenticeship he follows under the guidance of a church painter. Therefore, religious topics would become the central motif of his creation. He would represent the social and cultural climate of his time with the aid of portraits, landscapes and still life, but he would never give up religious painting. Cult objects can sometimes be found is his still life paintings as well, in the guise of books, crucifixes, or silverware objects. Although this genre is usually ignored by Academists, Stahi's still life would adopt all the principle that the artist had acquired within the Munich School.
