Nicolae Vermont was concerned with the fate of people in the rural area, but he also illustrated the city world, craftsmen or workers. He portrays the joy of holiday days and village dances, but also captures the moments of work. An excellent draftsman, he will find the aesthetic ideal to create and will masterfully render the gestures and attitudes of his models. This time we have a protagonist caught on the country road, next to the oxen pulling the yoke. Dressed in traditional clothes, in shades of white, Vermont's character makes his way on the country lane, in the middle of summer, among leafy trees and blue sky. Providing such details, the artist indicates the specifics of an entire social class. His protagonist therefore becomes the exponent of the village man, who traverses the lanes on the way to nurturing the earth, to grazing livestock, to the village council, or to the Sunday dances. Regardless of the chosen direction, he remains representative of his class and suggests keys for deciphering a specific human typology. The serial nature of his creations, genuinely homogeneous, provides coherence to the work of Nicolae Vermont and remarkable reflects the everyday flatness.
