Adam Bălțatu is an artist who easily finds his visual repertoire from the beginning of his career, his work evoking a simple and honest world where nature is the best teacher. His canvases do not seek the spectacular, but rather convey a specific, intimate atmosphere, marked by freshness and spontaneity. Maria Dumitrescu refers to him as an "artist of poetic nuances," as Bălțatu shows a particular interest in color. His palettes are vividly saturated but always balanced, with subtle harmonies that nuance every shape. Divided tints add depth and life to the compositions, giving them a specific vibration. An essential criterion for evaluating the value of a work is undoubtedly simplicity - the ability to say much with few means. This is a synthesis that Bălțatu reaches through a deep understanding of landscape painting, a genre in which he excels and which pushes him towards essentialization. In the current work, he resorts to only two of the most fundamental contrasts - warm-cold and brightness contrast - to build a vibrant and expressive composition. The house, located in the center of the image, captures the most light accents, becoming the main point of interest in the composition. The windows, the door, and the roof's shadows are outlined in dark tones, adding drama and relief. These dark tones are also used to mark the objects on the left clearly, in the foreground, but also to blur the details of the yard and the vegetation in the background, thus highlighting the silhouette of the house. Shadows, whether left or carried, are rendered simplistically, often just by contours, in an approach devoid of intermediate nuances. Chromatically, warm tones dominate - red, ochre - complementarily balanced by the blue tones of the sky and the roof on the right. This carefully thought-out composition, along with the respect for the rhythms of nature and rural life, explains the artist's choice to call Grigorescu and Luchian "spiritual teachers," alongside the first and foremost professor of painting: nature.
