ulei pe carton, 39 x 49 cm, signed and dated bottom right, in black, "S. Mützner, 1940"

Samuel Mützner is known for his impressionistic approaches and for his studies of the female nude. He studied in Germany and France and worked in various corners of the world. His work includes landscapes, portraits and nudes, addressing themes related to intimacy and human fragility. In this work, "Nude on divan" which is dated 1940, the artist Samuel Mützner explores with delicacy and introspection the female body, captured in the posture of a woman seated on a divan, leaning slightly back, in an atmosphere of quiet and reflection. The composition is marked by a diffuse light and a warm chromatic, with beige and white tones, giving the work a subtle sensuality and an intimate atmosphere. The fine details of the body and the facial expression of the model suggest a state of dreaming and vulnerability, inviting the viewer to penetrate the interior universe of the character. The work reflects Mützner's constant interest in the study of the female nude, a theme often found in his work, approached with sensitivity and respect for the subject, a special attention to detail, aspect that reflects the influences of European art schools and his interest in the study of light and color.
