The charm of Bernea's painting comes from the endless attempt to recover the innocence of lost spaces. Tradition and nature become the main means of communication in his creative universe, with the painter trying to transform himself through his own art. Inspired by the past, all of Horia Bernea's works are pictorial demonstrations intended to transform the profane into sacred. The painter dedicates large thematic cycles to his interests such as "Hill", "Food", "Prapor", "Church Interiors". "The iconostasis attracted me because of its extraordinary complexity," the painter would say about the thematic cycle dedicated to iconostases. Considering it a total object, Horia Bernea dedicated, during the '80-'90 years, a series of works to the iconostasis, which include works such as "Church Interior", "Iconostasis". The present work impresses with its dark, somber tones that point to a sacrosanct space.
