Throughout his artistic career, Paul Gherasim has created a universe inspired by his fellow men. Trying to return to the coherence of a space suspended in time, the painter has depicted the indigenous naturalness on his canvas. His artistic universe is customary, timeless and outlines the archetype of the Romanian peasant. During the '80s-'90s, Paul Gherasim created a series depicting peasants. Caught in various poses, the protagonists of Gherasim's compositions are authentic in their simplicity. The peasants in his works represent a constant and unalterable reality. The chosen color palette abounds in shades of yellow, brown, beige and green, outlining a vast space, in which the artist manages to invoke the figure of the peasant as a focal point. The events depicted unfold in the reality of the spirit and emanate an inner peace specific to rural spaces and folk traditions.
