The "Urzica" magazine represented the main periodic humorous publication in Romania during the communist regime, appearing uninterrupted between 1949 and 1990. In the first decade and a half of publication, it stood out through its virulent anti-Western and anti-American propaganda in favor of the communist regime. This was followed by a period of relative depoliticization of content and irony of aspects related more to daily life, without completely lacking ideological and political references. After 1980, the graphic quality of the magazine dropped significantly compared to the period before. Its pages published major illustrators such as Eugen Taru, Cik Damadian, A. Poch, Matty (Matei Aslan), V. Crivăț, Nell Cobar, Val Munteanu, as well as painters who would become prominent figures of Romanian art, such as Geta Brătescu. The lot consists of the following issues: 8, 11/1955; 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 13, 16, 21, 23/1956; 6, 9/1957; 4, 7, 10, 11, 18/1958; 3, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22/1959; 4, 5, 10, 23, 24/1960; 9, 24/1961; 1, 18/1962; 8, 21, 24/1966; 2/1968; 24/1973; 8/1977; 8/1987; 1, 2/1988. In addition, there are four issues of the magazine's Almanac for the years: 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.
