Socec Publishing, one of the most important publishers in Romania during the reign of King Carol I, commissioned artist Hans Aescher (1866-1937) to create a calendar that was to be used as an advertising piece. The item represents the original mock-up of that calendar, painted on canvas, including color samples, signed in the middle left side.
