He was a professor at the Bucharest Conservatory. He founded the "Carmen" Choir Society in 1901, which he took on tour in Transylvania and Bukovina, keeping the Romanian national spirit alive. He was a founding member of the Romanian Composers' Society (1920). D.G. Kiriac had an important role in the development of Romanian music.
