Constantin C. Arion (1855-1923) was a politician, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Religion and Public Education, honorary member of the Romanian Academy. Solomon I. Halfon (1846-1913) was a banker and philanthropist. Solomon Halfon was a Sephardic Jew, the founder of the Romanian Commercial Bank, who made the first state loan of Romania. In 1880, he was individually recognised as a national. He received the Officers' Cross, and Carol I gave him the title of Commander, and his wife was a lady-in-waiting in Queen Elizabeth's retinue.
