Alexandru Odobescu (1834-1895) was a Romanian writer, archaeologist, professor, minister and politician. Through his activity, revealed in his writings, but also through his participations in international scientific events, he promoted Romania and its past. In 1867 he organised the Romanian pavilion at the Paris Universal Exhibition, where the Pietroasa Treasure was shown.
