The Mercedes-Benz W126 is a series of S-Class cars produced between 1979 and 1992. Launched in September 1979, as the successor to the Mercedes-Benz W116, it was the second generation of vehicles to receive this name, as an abbreviation for "Sonderklasse" or "special class". As innovative elements, they were equipped with numerous Mercedes safety elements, including the first pre-tensioned seat belts.
