Coming from a family of noble origins, Arthur Verona grew up surrounded by art from an early age. He attended the Military Academy in Vienna and produced drawings and paintings from a military inspiration. He first appeared in an international exhibition in Vienna in 1889. He then participated in an exhibition of secessionist artists organized in Munich in 1893. He will return to Munich as a student and will be particularly interested in plein-air painting. After his Bavarian journey, he made a stop at the Julian Academy in Paris. Arthur Verona is one of the founding members of the "Tinerimea Artistica" and he even led this group between 1910 and 1921. His work is marked by a multitude of landscapes in which nature takes the lead role. We will therefore be able to admire forest edges and clearings, where the trees stand tall, depicted with quick, full brushstrokes, in a warm chromatic contrast. Starting with the richness of nature surrounding his studio, he ends up creating even in the swamps of Braila or even on the Olt Valley. In 1903, his studio in Victory Square was consumed by flames, so much of his work was lost forever. In 1935, unfortunately, his studio in Bucharest suffered the same fate, and the works created in the last 30 years were also lost. Despite this, the artist was always motivated to create and he left behind a significant body of work.
