The sources of inspiration for Francisc Șirato can easily be identified in Romanian folk art and the visual vision of Cézanne. From the latter, the artist takes on the concern for balance and compositional organization, while Romanian folk art will serve as a benchmark for the fascinating science of color. Nature appears in his creation as a primordial source of inspiration. "Apolinic and solar," as Petru Comarnescu noted, Francisc Șirato will introduce chiaroscuro effects in colored planes and will achieve a strong agreement between theme, vision and technique. Starting with the '30s, flowers will increasingly appear in his creation. The ornamental decor, with rustic accents; but also the fullness and vitality of the floral elegies will consecrate the artist as one of the important cultural personalities of the past century. In the present work, he creates a veritable microcosm in which he flawlessly inserts fragments belonging to his reveries. He will constantly refer to nature and will use bright colors through which he will synthesize the light of the ambient atmosphere in which he conducts his activity. Against a background of intimate inspiration, a space that could be deciphered as his own studio, the vase with gladioli occupies the foreground of the composition in which the artist introduces us, without hesitation, into his familiar universe. The chromatic harmony is concentrated in the central plane, in the synergy of the declensions of red, white and green. The reflective temperament of the artist is undeniably revealed to the public through the meticulous study of nature and the surrounding environment. Francisc Șirato stands out through the exaltation of nuances and the delimitation of strokes, but also through the way in which he preserves the vibration and warmth of human presence in the still lifes in which he mainly focuses on objects.
