Nicolaus Visscher (1649-1702) came from a family of Dutch engravers, publishers and cartographers active over a long period, almost a century. He continued the passion and business started by his grandfather, taken over by his father and an older brother. Also, after his death, his wife continued to publish the family's carefully prepared editions. The piece is part of the Atlas minor work, first published in Amsterdam in 1683 and reprinted in several editions. Copper engraving.
