The son of Cecilia Cuţescu-Storck and violinist Romulus Kunzer, Romeo grew up in the family that his mother started with the sculptor Frederic Storck. He embraced his mother's career by studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest and starting to exhibit in the 1920s. He worked as an easel painter in various genres and decorative art, and later dedicated himself to monumental murals in Brazil, where he painted large-scale compositions for the architectural works in the new capital, Brasília and Sao Paulo, thus acquiring a certain fame. The creation of Romeo Storck partly claims the Cubist direction, in the version practiced by André Lhote, his style being characterised by a propensity for bidimensionality, robust, slightly geometric shapes, the use of lines to build shapes and colours applied within firm outlines.
