In the manner we see most of his oil paintings with views of the Seine, Theodor Pallady chooses a central point of the painting, which gives him the proper chromatic and plastic quality. The Seine River is seen in an opaque tint, in neutral gradients of green and the grey reflections in the water of vegetation and the cloudy sky. The drawing is not exaggerated, the shape being modelled in the colour parsimoniously spread on quite large areas of the supporting cardboard, and the rest of the composition is built in a truncated perspective, distance being rarely interesting to Pallady, for it granted a much too lyrical note to the final character.
