Nikola Tanev has been a leading figure in the development of modern Bulgarian art since the 1930s. A recognizable creative handwriting, lyricism, a sense of light, airiness and color are the main characteristics that build Tanev's artistic world. One of the artist's favorite subjects are sunny scenes and city views from Karlovo. With the royal courtyards, houses and streets on the canvases, which came out from under Tanev's brush, he invites the viewer to immerse himself in the works. With skillful handling of light shadows, balanced coloring and impressive large strokes, Nikola Tanev builds a recognizable style. Nikola Tanev was a bright figure in Bulgarian painting in the 1930s. He exhibits his works in numerous exhibitions, travels and does not stop creating. He is an extremely dedicated artist. Tanev's obvious impressionistic searches take him in an interesting direction, where he manages to combine them with the ideas of preserving the Native. It is not by chance that the "main character" in his works are views of Bulgarian cities. Characteristic of Nikola Tanev's picturesque landscapes is his tendency to idealize, which in turn reveals the artist's emotional sensitivity. And for an artist, sensitivity is extremely important. The characteristic elements in the construction of similar compositions by Tanev can be found in the work "Street in Karlovo". Deep foreground, large strokes and skillful handling of highlights.
