Dechko Uzunov is among the most recognizable Bulgarian artists, whose life and work reflect the path of all Bulgarian painting from the end of the 20s to the 80s of the 20th century - from symbolism, national decorative style, moderate expressionism with quotes from the stylistics of cubism, socialist realism in the form of elegant academism to pictorial abstraction. In "The Sunflower Garden" Dechko Uzunov creates a landscape, characteristic of his painting style. By its visual features, the work belongs to the period from the late 50s and early 60s of the 20th century. The painting is characteristic of the process of returning to a free painting language after the period of ideological dogmatism and so-called socialist realism. It is built with expressive brush and mainly knife application of paint. The coloration is light, typically characteristic for the artist's works. Dechko Uzunov conveys the lightness with which he works in watercolor and oil painting. In this respect, the painting "The Sunflower Garden" is characteristic of the artist's style. (S.N.)
